A new $25 billion city will be built in Tunisia

September 14, 2008

Dubai development company Sama Dubai has made a deal with Tunisia government for the construction of a new city in this North African country. The project is going to attract the largest amount of foreign investment in Tunisia ever.

The new city, named "Gateway to the Mediterranean," will spare 1,000 hectares. It will include skyscrapers, resorts, entertainment centers and residential buildings for 300,000 people. The cost of the project is 25 billion, which is twice the size of Tunisia's annual budget, according to International Herald Tribune. НThe city will be built in 15 years.

Sama Dubai's Chief Executive, Farhan Faraiduni, says that Tunusia was chosen because of its closeness to Europe and attractiveness for international business. Airbus' saving plans have also played an important role.
